The 1997 Ford Mustang Super Stallion
The Super Stallion is technology with an attitude. Modified aluminum cylinder heads provide improved airflow, and twin throttle bodies channel air to the high capacity, clutch-activated Garrett supercharger. The Stallion is also capable of running on gasoline, alcohol, or any combination of the two.
The 5.4L V-8 made 545 horsepower @ 6000 rpm and 495 lb.-ft. It ran 0-60 in 4.3 seconds and had a top speed of 175 mph.

The New Mustang GT Concept Car
Stamping out all rumors of a newly designed concept Mustang GT, Ford will debut two, all-new GT Convertible & Coupe concepts at the 2003 North American International Auto Show this week. J Mays, Ford Motor Company VP of Design says of these newly anticipated legends, “I think we got it right.”
Presented as a two-seat fastback coupe and convertible, Ford musters up new standards for the American muscle car. Designers, inspired by the Mustang 1 concept of the 1960’s, have looked beyond production models to create a Mustang design that is “rare and radical.” The GT Coupe and Convertible have classic appeal and what Ford describes as a strong indicator of the next generation Mustang’s design direction.
Ford’s Living Legend Studios in Dearborn, Michigan and Ford’s California Design Center in Southern California penned the concept designs and are also working on the all-new Mustang due to debut in 2004. So how close are these concepts to the 2004 production Mustang? Indications are good that these ultra-modern concepts are Ford’s roadmap to the future Mustang and expose Ford’s pursuit to satisfy Mustang enthusiasts’ appetites for a performance-inspired legend evolving from 40 years of Mustang heritage.
The Tungsten Silver coupe and the Redline Red Metallic convertible are unmistakingly Mustang and thoroughly modern. Defining classic design cues aren’t amiss in these concepts which feature C-scoops in the sides, three-element tail lamps and the galloping pony in the center of the grille. The amply satisfying appearance of the concepts are balanced by the gritty 13.8-inch vented Brembo® disc brakes and the supercharged 400-horsepower Modular 4.6-liter V-8.
